Role summary:
This role will work closely as a business partner with the Operations and Sales Team and lead all the financial reporting for their respective divisions
The successful applicant will Help lead the budgeting and forecasting process for their divisions. Work with all teams to ensure the weekly and monthly P&Ls are accurate and submitted on a timely basis. Lead and report on key drivers of divisional performance against budget/forecast/prior periods, identifying key variances and opportunities for improvement through meaningful analysis. Support with all ad-hoc information/analysis requests
Key responsibilities
- Preparation and oversight of the divisional budget and any further forecasting undertaken by the business
- Lead the completion of the Weekly and Monthly P&L and supporting files and ensuring all timetables are achieved
- Provide meaningful insights and commentary on divisional performance both weekly and monthly against budget and prior periods; highlighting any potential areas of concerns to the appropriate people
- Must be willing and able to visit the depots around the country and assist in training non-financial staff to better use and complete the existing reports
- Preparation of monthly accruals and prepayments
Essential criteria for this role
- Strong excel skills including working with large amounts of data in an efficient manner
- Ideally, minimum 3-4 years’ experience in a finance function; preferably studying for professional exams or recently qualified
- The candidate would ideally have experience of working closely with non-finance individuals
- Used to working to and achieving tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
- Financial systems experience desirable
- Driving licence

- Ability to continually review the reports produced by themselves and the team for their effectiveness within the business

Measures
- Preparation of budget and forecasts to agreed timetables and framework
- Significant variances from budget/forecast reported to Freight Financial Controller and MD’s on a timely basis
- Adherence to timetables in production of daily, weekly and monthly reporting
- Accuracy and consistency in delivering analytical insights
